***NEW*** LUNCH AND LEARN TELECOURSES
Has this ever happened in your home?
It’s any night and you’re preparing dinner. Your child has a homework assignment due tomorrow and they have been working on it since Saturday afternoon. They keep getting distracted by the simplest things and despite your best efforts they have turned on the TV, played with the dog, played video games, texted friends etc. Every attempt to get them to focus on homework results in a verbal tug of war between you. This situation is played out over and over again. You know it is affecting their self-esteem and their confidence and, of course, their grades are much lower than they are capable of achieving.
Students with LD and ADHD are usually disorganized. They have trouble dealing with sequences. Often, just getting washed and dressed in the morning can be an arduous task. These students are often immature and emotionally fragile, over personalizing comments made by those around them. Their emotional can be exhausting and often extracts a toll on you and their siblings.
FACT: being the parent of a child with ADHD/LD is challenging
FACT: parents who have support are more effective in helping their children of all ages, with strategies to help manage symptoms
FACT: just one hour a week can provide you with support and strategies that will result in positive changes.
I am offering, jointly with another Professional ADHD coach, Sue Potter, of the Art of Possibilities, a series of four -one hour tele-courses. Each tele-course focuses on a single topic and consists of a lesson module of about 30 minutes in length, leaving time for questions and goal setting to implement afterwards. Camaraderie and supportive communities develop through these courses so that, if you wish, you have a support group long after the classes end. As an added bonus, Sue and I have included a 30 minute private coaching call which will address any lingering individual questions.
Tele-courses are held in a LUNCH and LEARN format from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. (EST), and will cover these topics:
Family routines and habits to ensure academic success (September 2011)
Positive advocacy with school personnel (November 2011)
Overcoming procrastination and stimulating motivation (February, 2012)
Bullying: both sides of the issue (April, 2012)
Advocacy is an important role for parents who have a child with ADHD and/or Learning Disabilities. As a parent of a child with learning issues, it is critical that you ensure they receive the best education and accommodations from the school.

. I will respond with exact start dates for the tele-course when not less than 7 and no more than 15 people enrol. Sue and I will be jointly presenting the tele-courses; therefore there will always a rich ratio of expertise from the leaders and a small group of participants.
The cost per tele-course is $199.00 (Can.), including the 30 minute private coaching call. |
